The Art Star CRAP BazaarJanuary 25th-26th, 11-4pm each day
Free to attend and open to the public
at Art Star at The Independence Visitor Center
599 Market Street (North End of the Building)
An Art + Craft Rummage Sale - 25% of profits donated to the World Central Kitchen and The Sunday Love Project.
Last year's event raised $3,920.50 to two different non-profits. Let's beat that number and make this year our largest donation yet!
The Art Star CRAP Bazaar will be held at our retail shop located at the Independence Visitor Center - you will find us at the North end of the building.
This yearly fundraising event is a funny take on our Art Star CRAFT Bazaar, though it will be nothing like that event. Over 20 of our regular crafters will be selling off their "Seconds" at huge discounts. There will be no fancy booth displays and no frills! Just a bunch of big tables piled with stuff to rummage through!
The crap bazaar aims to support our artists by helping them make some income off of time spent learning and playing - an important part of the artistic process. Many of the items included in the "crap" bazaar are just that - pieces that were made as practice before the piece is perfected and placed on shop shelves and sold at craft shows. Other items are overstock, samples, or have been discontinued from their retail lines to make room for fresh, new work. Some may be mishaps, that have little cracks, chips, or other imperfections. Find a handmade Treasure at A GREAT PRICE. Items will be marked down AT LEAST 50% off retail prices.
Another mission of the Crap Bazaar is to give back to our community. Each year we donate 25% of the total sales from the event to two Non-Profits. This year we have chosen World Central Kitchen and The Sunday Love Project. The donation will be split between these two evenly.
World Central Kitchen is first to the frontlines, providing fresh meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Learn more at https://wck.org/
The mission of The Sunday LOVE Project is to share food amongst those experiencing food insecurity in our community. Our efforts aim to ease the burden of choosing between paying bills and feeding our families. For the last seven years, we have focused on serving those experiencing homelessness. Recently through Greater Goods, our free grocery store, we have shifted gears to ensure parents are able to feed their children. We are a liaison between a hungry, struggling mind and a focused, nourished soul. Learn More at https://sundaylove.org/
We are also encouraging customers to drop off donations for us to collect and give to No More Secrets (the nation's 1st Menstrual Hub and Uterine Wellness Center.) Appreciated items are: Pads (overnights preferred), liners, wipes, soap, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, lotion, bras/underwear, toothbrush/toothpaste, razors, and menstrual cups. They do not accept open or loose products, so please make sure donated items are in original and unopened packaging. Learn More at https://www.nomoresecretsmbs.org/
The "Crap" bazaar occurs only once a year, so don't miss out on a chance to purchase original, handmade goods at great prices.
