February 9 - The Reclining Venus: Looking Back
For centuries, artists have used the reclining nude figure of Venus to inspire viewers to reflect on ideal love and beauty. As we look at her, she often looks back. This lecture considers the subtle use to the gaze to arouse our interest and activate our imaginations.

About the Program: Dr. Meredith Shimizu, Professor of Art History at Whitworth University, transports us across time and space in this lively lecture series at the MAC.
