About this Event
Join us for Art & Jewels, a fascinating exploration of how art and adornment reflect status, beauty, and meaning across centuries. From the glittering courts of Europe to the canvases of great artists, this talk reveals how jewels have shaped—and been shaped by—history, culture, and imagination.
In this richly illustrated presentation, we’ll uncover:
- Marie Antoinette’s Jewels – from opulence to propaganda, the politics of luxury.
- Pearls & Power – the timeless symbolism of pearls as emblems of purity, prestige, and feminine authority.
- All That Glitters – how artists used gold not just to display wealth, but to express divine light, artistic mastery, and creative vision.
Through paintings, portraits, and real jewels, we’ll see how these treasures tell stories far beyond their sparkle—connecting art, identity, and desire through time.
