I recently heard that substantially 100% of the people in GEN Z experience social anxiety on a regular basis. That absolutely broke my heart to hear.
So, if you are in your early 30s or younger, have been wanting to interact with more people in person, but feel too anxious to engage people in real life, this is a special event just for you.
I invite you to think about the following: one way to define anxiety is unspecified fear. And, perhaps the easiest way to get over fear is to confront it. Therefore, this will be an opportunity for you to confront your fear by meeting other people feeling similar anxiety. My hope would be that you begin to learn that interacting IRL is a skill that can be learned, and the more you do it, the easier it becomes. And, the easier it becomes, hopefully the less anxious you are about it.
The event is at McMenamins on Broadway, which is an amazing 2nd floor location. It has a great patio which is reserved for our group. The patio is covered and heated, so it is a great location even if it is cold and rainy.
I will be there, but my role will be to greet people and facilitate introductions and conversations. I do not intend on directly participating.
The event starts at 6pm, but please feel free to stop by anytime while the event is going on. There is no such thing as being late.
I suggest thinking about some interests/hobbies/passions you may want to talk about for this event. I have found that a good start to finding friends is to share a hobby or interest or passion.
