Our amazing speaker will be Dr. Laura Wilson, Executive Director
of Marine Resources Council
Her presentation is titled: Bridging the old and the new: How modern sea turtles help interpret the lives of their fossil relatives.
Dr. Wilson's Bio: Inspired by the natural world, Laura pursues work that brings together her love of learning, teaching, and exploring. She earned her B.S. in Geology from Washington & Lee University, M.S. in Earth Sciences from Montana State University, and Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Wilson joined the Marine Resources Council as Executive Director in June 2024. With a background in paleontology, she brings a big-picture approach to restoring our ecosystem—looking at how geology, biology, and time are connected. She emphasizes using sound science to guide decisions, building strong partnerships, and fostering lifelong learning so we can create lasting improvements for our environment.
The meeting in person location is the Southwest room at Satellite Beach Civic Center, address 565 Casia Blvd.
We have social time from 6:30pm to 7PM. At 7 PM, we have announcements, then begin the presentation.
