About this Event

Harnessing the Power of Mindfulness: A Pathway to Resilience and Well-being for APNA members.

Learn about the power of being present and techniques for cultivating mindfulness daily. No prior experience is needed—just an open mind and a willingness to explore.

Evidence-based mindfulness is a pathway to enhanced resilience, performance, and effective management. Mindfulness and Kindness-based practices are not merely a technique but a transformative journey. This heightened and accepting awareness is crucial for professionals, enhancing decision-making, empathy, and the ability to navigate complex situations.

Mindfulness offers a way to manage this stress, enabling you to maintain clarity, compassion, and calm amid challenges.

Key benefits and outcomes
  • that regular mindfulness practice helps reduce stress and improve well-being and mental health in healthcare and other industries.
  • Evidence shows an increase in collaboration and greater awareness of fostering good relationships in the workplace.
  • In 2021, the Wellcome evidence-based report on workplace mental health recommended that all staff should be given access to mindfulness courses. The most recent NICE guidance on mental wellbeing at work that came out in March 2022: recommends that mindfulness be offered to “all employees…on an ongoing basis”.

Paragraphs 1.6.4 and 1.7.4 state, "The committee agreed that mindfulness, meditation and yoga were most effective overall in reducing job stress and mental health symptoms and having a positive effect on employee mental wellbeing.”

Staff can expect to gain a better understanding of mindfulness and experience improvements in various aspects of life, including:

  • Enhanced resilience in facing personal and professional challenges.
  • Improved mental well-being and stress management.
  • Better work-life balance and family relationships.
  • Increased effectiveness and empathy in leadership roles.

In the wise words of Jalāl ad-Dīn Rumi, a revered Sufi poet,

"Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, Worshipper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times.

Come, yet again, Come, Come."

This encapsulates the spirit of our mindfulness journey – an open, inclusive, and compassionate path towards personal and communal well-being.

Together, let us embark on a journey that promises personal tranquillity and the empowerment of our community.

I look forward to your participation and fostering a mindful future together.
