About this Event
Antigone is the most popular Greek Tragedy in Chicago, recently performed at the Court Theatre, Northwestern's Wirtz Center, and the Athenaeum Center for Cultural Thought. In preparation for the panel discussion on 4/24, we will gather to discuss the play and its enduring popularity. We will reflect together on how this play can help us think about what we value, and discuss how you can choose a translation you enjoy. Light refreshments will be provided.
You can check out a copy of Antigone from your local CPL branch or read one of the many free translations available online. While we will conduct our discussion in English, please feel free to read the play in whatever language you choose.
The Edgewater Branch is a 5 minute walk from the Thorndale Red Line stop. The 36 bus stops right next to the library at Broadway and Elmdale. The library has parking available. To access the parking lot, enter the alley behind the library from Norwood Street or Elmdale Avenue.
This event is supported by a public humanities grant from Northwestern's Kaplan Humanities Institute.
