P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Anna Harwell Celenza to celebrate and discuss her new book,; the surprising story of how iconic works of music sparked debate and action in the halls of Congress.
Anna will be joined in conversation by Dessa, musician and author of . Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Anna will also sign copies of her book.
Both tickets and books are available on eventbrite and at the door. Doors open at 6:30pm with the talk starting closer to 7pm.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Anna Harwell Celenza is a professor at Johns Hopkins University, holding a joint appointment at the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and the Peabody Conservatory. She is also the author of eight children’s books. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Spanning genres and disciplines, Dessa’s style is defined by tenderness, rigor, candor, and wit. As a musician, she’s co-composed for large choirs; crowdsurfed at rock clubs; recorded a live album with the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra; and contributed a track to the #1 album The Hamilton Mixtape. As a speaker, Dessa regularly presents on art, science, and entrepreneurship at colleges and universities across the US. Her TED Talk, which recounts her science experiment on how to fall out of love, has notched more than 5 million views. As an author, she’s written for The New York Times and National Geographic Traveler; hosted two seasons of a podcast for the BBC; and published several literary collections including the memoir-in-essays My Own Devices. She’s currently serving as Artist in Residence at Georgetown University’s Music Sustainability Initiative. More info at dessawander.com
