ANEMARA brings together four acclaimed musicians from Canada and Sweden — Jocelyn Pettit, Lea Kirstein, Kristina Leesik, and Justyna Krzyżanowska — in a powerful collaboration that blends traditional and original music from both sides of the Atlantic. Featuring two fiddles, harp, cello, stepdance, and exquisite four-part vocal harmonies, the quartet creates a richly textured, rhythmically vibrant sound.
Formed in Glasgow, the group draws inspiration from Nordic, Celtic, and Canadian traditions. Their name reflects this connection. It combines “Anemoi” (gods of the four winds) and the Gaelic “Mara” (of the sea). Their performances are known for captivating melodies, energetic interplay, and a joyful, engaging stage presence. Collectively, ANEMARA’s members have received more than 15 honours from major organizations, including the Canadian Folk Music Awards, Western Canadian Music Awards, International Acoustic Music Awards, and Sweden’s prestigious Zorn Folk Music Awards. They have toured in Sweden and the UK, appearing at leading festivals such as Celtic Connections, Urkult Festival, and Medeltidsveckan, and have been featured on Swedish National Radio P2. Their debut single, Atlantic Schottis, showcases their vibrant and innovative approach to folk music.
