“Whimsical Chickens” is a textile series created by Textile ArtistPam Lipe. Pam uses hand-dyed fabrics and acrylic paint, then layers and stitches these elements into colorful collages. She creates art with layers of fabric and thread then adds a touch of whimsy, just for fun.
Pam previously lived on a hobby farm in River Falls, Wisconsin where she, for the first time, kept a variety of chickens in different colors, sizes and personalities. She enjoyed their companionship and antics as well as their colorful eggs. This exhibit is inspired by these remarkable fowls.
One of Pam's art quilts, entitled "Voting Line," was presented to the President and First Lady of Costa Rica in a gift exchange when they visited Minnesota.
