About this Event
Join Clark County poet laureate Ashley “Ms. AyeVee” Vargas for a free ekphrastic poetry workshop at the “Til the Wheels Fall Off” art exhibition.
With its roots in Greek literary tradition, “ekphrasis” is a way of using poetic language to describe and evoke a work of visual art. Ekphrastic poetry may also respond imaginatively to the artwork while creating a separate (discreet) back and forth (dialogue, collaboration, interactions, etc) that expands the meaning of the artwork. Literal or metaphorical, this kind of poetry is meant to illuminate the intersectional connection between literary and visual artistic mediums.
This event is open to poets of all ages and skill levels.
Writing materials, refreshments, a swag bag of goodies, and positive vibes are all provided so just bring your creativity with you!
When: Saturday, February 7th from 1-2pm
Where: Clark County Government Center Rotunda Gallery, 500 S. Grand Central Pkwy
Submit your poetry after the workshop for a chance to win one of three $100 awards as well as an invitation to read your poetry at the Til the Wheels Fall off Reception on Saturday, February 28th!
