This class culminates in a performance showcase!

"This Scene Was About" is a format born in Bogotà, Colombia, in 2017, created by Italian improviser Favio Maccioni, in an intensive workshop, where the focus was "emotional mirroring" and "reading scenes as a gift". Says Favio: “The format is a combination between these two beautiful things in improv.”

Like many things in improv, the simplicity of this format is also its strength, leading to connections both obvious and surprising.

I very much like the simplicity, emotion and ensemble work it takes to do this format. I think you will too.

We’ll work on the advanced basics of open scenework skills:- clarity and energy- “entry points” into scenes- staging and movement elements of scenework- characters- playing in a way that is grounded, real-to-life- variety! At the end of class, we’ll do a performance of “This Scene Was About”

We have community standards, a conflict process, and a COVID prevention policy in place. Agreement/acceptance of these policies is required to participate in BATS classes. Please use the links above to access and read these policies, and check the boxes during registration to indicate your agreement/confirmation.
