artssoutheast.org/drivethruart About the Project
“I never thought I could live in a city – the oppressive weight of steel and concrete closes in and depresses me. Savannah showed me a different kind of city. One that had all the conveniences but none of the heavy, towering monstrosities of the places that the word ‘city’ typically conjures in your mind. Savannah is a city that must constantly fight for space with the vegetation. A month unattended, and the vines and grasses will overtake the temporary signs of man. Our Wild City highlights the beauty and balance of nature and our city. Each scene is a collage of painted wooden cutouts, capturing where nature meets city.”

About the Artist
Adrienne Berkland is a Savannah-based artist who works primarily in acrylic and gouache. Adrienne moved to Savannah in 2014 to coach collegiate lacrosse. After six years of being surrounded by artists and the beauty that is Savannah, she stepped away from coaching to pursue a life of art. First, as an art teacher and now as a full time artist. She enjoys painting Savannah scenes and portraits and when not in her studio at ARTS Southeast, she can be found busking at Forsyth Park.
