The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center proudly presents a table reading of Lucky Ladies, an exciting new work by local theater artist Mark Riojas, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 7:00 pm at the Guadalupe Latino Bookstore, located at 1300 Guadalupe Street in San Antonio, Texas. This event is free and open to the public, offering audiences an exclusive first look at a bold and heartfelt dramedy that blends sharp comedy, spiritual realism, and cultural truth.
About the Play: Lucky Ladies follows three lifelong comadres—Rose, Gladys, and Marlene—on a chaotic road trip to Winstar Casino that becomes an unexpected journey of friendship, grief, and self-discovery. Between slot machine meltdowns, W**d gummies, and ghosts from the past, each woman confronts what she’s been running from: aging, regret, and the messy bonds of love and loyalty. The play explores how forgiveness, much like luck, comes when you least expect it.
About the Artist: Mark Riojas has spent over 20 years working nationally as a performer and production director with various arts and entertainment organizations. He began his career in sketch comedy before transitioning to stand-up, touring the country for 15 years and performing at major venues like the Hollywood Improv and the Laugh Factory. Alongside his entertainment work, Mark has built a career in healthcare and is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing. He proudly served as NSLS chapter president and is passionate about leadership and community growth. Mark is thrilled to return to the stage doing what he loves most—creating stories that resonate.
