"Dress for Inner Success" Fashion Show Competition

Get ready for an exciting and meaningful evening on Oct 12, 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Austin Central Library - Special Events Center! We invite you to join us for a night of fashion, fun, and fierce competition as we strive to make a positive impact in the world of fashion and promote self-love and acceptance!

The Dress for Inner Success Fashion Show Competition will be headlined by special guest America’s Next Top Model Alum Bianca Golden & via Live Stream (Instagram, Facebook & YouTube) by Supermodel Nini Amerlise. It will showcase the creative designs of talented student and emerging local fashion designers, and promises to be a celebration of creativity, empowerment, & the transformative power of fashion. The theme of the competition will be "Look Good, Feel Good" with a focus on using fashion as a tool to support individuals struggling with mental health issues. We believe that fashion has the power to promote a positive mental health message of " look good on the outside feel good on the inside!”

In line with this theme, we are challenging designers to defy societal standards in today's fashion and create collections that celebrates #BodyPositivity #BodyAppreciation and #BodyDiversity; and cater to all body types for women men or both. We have selected seventeen (17) models ages 17-48 from six (6) different ethnic backgrounds identifying as both heterosexual and LGBTQIA and representing nine (9) body types to create a more inclusive and positive environment where all bodies are represented and celebrated.

Designers will select a signature piece from their collection to be made solely in one of seven colors symbolizing mental well-being to be featured in a unique event photoshoot promoting mental health We request that designers select a single piece from their collection to be produced in one of the designated colors that symbolize various facets of mental well-being to be featured in a unique event photoshoot promoting mental health awareness:

• Black = Confidence
• Blue = Serenity
• Green = Growth
• Pink = Empowerment
• Purple = Individuality
• Red = Power
• Yellow = Hope

Competition judging will be conducted by a majority vote from the audience and a panel of the following industry professionals:

• Theresa Satterwhite (Owner of Luxe Loft Model and Talent Agency)
• Richard Samuel (Founder and Creative Director of RichesArt Gallery)
• Dr. Leverne Witherspoon (CEO of Texas Minority Fashion Week)
• Michelle Washington (Host of TV Show "Behind the SEAMS")
• Local Fashion Model & Stylist Tam Brown

Attendees will also have the chance to vote for their favorite designer in the "Best Show Overall" category, adding to the excitement of the evening.

The evening will also feature:

• a live performance by Austin-based rapper Cherelle K.
• a vibrant vendor marketplace promoting holistic well-being and featuring wellness products, artisanal crafts, educational resources, and more
• an after-party meet-and-greet session following the fashion show offering an exclusive opportunity for attendees to connect with designers, models, event producers, and sponsors in an intimate and stylish setting.
