CELEBRATE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND WITH THE "AMERICANA" SOUNDS OF MARY JAMES AND THE MEAN MARY BANDMay 23, 7 p.m. New Spirit Cafe in the Joan Harris Blackbox
Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrna Beach.
A Positively Florida Nonprofit Production.
Mary James is a true American phenom. Born into a family that sailed outside the mainstream, she became a child prodigy playing music on the streets of Nashville. Today she is a Southeastern U.S. star with tens of millions of views of her YouTube videos. She recently broke big when her rendition of the folk classic Wayfaring Stranger was included in the major Hollywood movie, Hellfire. The musical form “Americana” is a merging of great American musical traditions: folk, blues, rock, country and bluegrass. Called a “startling talent” by Tennessee’s major newspaper, the Tennessean, she has proved it over and over with more than 4,000 headliner appearances. She appears with a trio that includes her guitar slinging brother, Frank James. Come celebrate with us. Mary may not pass this way again!
