This evening is all about heading Eastwards - starting at The Civic towards Linthwaite and up to Scapegoat Hill, with a special performance of 'Small Journeys' by acclaimed composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad - a collection of songs setting texts by Colne Valley-based poet and writer Adam Strickland about specific locations around the Colne Valley.We continue toward Eastern Europe, showcasing two core sonatas of the Flute repertoire that show off very different sides to the instrument, but aren't programmed in concerts very much - the punch, jazzy sounds of American composer (of Slavic heritage) Robert Muzcynski and Georgian composer Otar Taktakishvili.
We conclude reaching the lands of Persia and India with a performance of Maurice Ravel's incredible song cycle 'Sheherazade'.
