About this Event
Hello! You are CORDIALLY INVITED to come and celebrate the release of Freda D'Souza's strange sound art album on the 20th June :D
The piece will be displayed first as an installation which you can book a slot for at hourly intervals (6pm, 7pm, 8pm), and outside the venue we will be having a picnic (weather permitting I guess, it is the UK afterall). Tickets for this are £5 but if you can't afford it just pop them a message for a free ticket ([email protected] / @freda_d.souza).
At 9pm, there will be a sunset ceremony with a guided deep listening lead by Clare Spollen, a short piece by James M. Creed (and friends?) and a poetry reading by Freda D'Souza. Tickets for this bit are very limited so please only buy one if you really definately can make it!
About the album that is being launched...
and remade is a practice research project that explores TIME; experiential time (wiley and malleable) against clock time (rigid and oppressive). Time in nature, time that is felt and time that moves outwards in circles. Ultimately, this work is an act of resistance against clock time. The 34 minute loopable piece weaves together poetry, field recordings, experimental tape technique and string arrangements in a time-bending meditation on temporality and experience. Utilising a self built solar powered casette player, the piece directly sonifies the sun. Displayed alongside the work will be a series of cyanotyped stop motion frames of the accompanying film, that will be available for purchase along with the work.
