"... and Juliet", in Greek with English surtitles.Dedicated to the most alive part within us.
In this haunting contemporary solo performance, Juliet exists in liminal space after Romeo's death, her body searching for meaning in a world that questions the very nature of transformative passion.
By the acclaimed Greek playwright Akis Dimou, as part of the Voila Festival, London's panlingual theatre festival. This poetic solo performance, directed by and starring Elena Michailidi, using Butoh movement, diverse soundscapes and combination of different artisitc languages, reimagines Shakespeare's iconic heroine in a world where love has become a radical act.
In a collapsing world dominated by technology and fragmented identities, this work poses a provocative question: Can we truly bear for the archetypal instinct of love to fall silent? A solitary Juliet, without Romeo, searches for connection in a reality that leaves little space for passion or transformative human encounter.
