We are thrilled to announce our second event of the academic year, with two incredible speakers lined up on the theme of anatomy in prehospital care. Our first speaker is Dr Toby Edmunds. Toby is an Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine and Pre-Hospital Care Consultant at Peterborough Hospital and with East Anglian Air Ambulance. Toby will be discussing the use of point of care ultrasound (POCUS) in prehospital medicine and will provide real insight into innovative diagnostic techniques in critical patients. It will be of real use to front-line responders, or those working in the emergency department.
Our second speaker is Dr Lisa Ramage, who is the lead of the Cambridge Prehospital Care Programme. Lisa is a consultant in Emergency Medicine and PHEM. She currently works at the Royal London Hospital in a post CCT fellow position, and is a flight doctor with Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and MAGPAS Air Ambulance. She is a module lead for anatomy and applied sciences the intercalated BSc in Pre-Hospital Care and MSc at QMUL, London. Lisa will be covering the relevant anatomy in prehospital injuries, such as traumatic brain injury, chest injury, and spinal trauma.
These talks will be a fascinating insight into the anatomy behind prehospital injuries, leading to the interventional techniques we use to treat the most critical patients.
The event will be held in person at Anglia Ruskin University, East Road, Cambridge, in LAB 026. We’d love for you to join in person, but we will also broadcast the event online via teams.
