About this Event
Wytham Woods is owned and managed by Oxford University and has an awesome history of ecological research (over 1,000 scientific papers!). This extensive site supports a mix of ancient woodland, plantations and limestone grassland, with smaller areas of other habitats.
We will explore the area, looking for its summer butterflies and day-flying moths. If we are lucky, we may see one of the scarcer species such as Silver-washed Fritillary, White Admiralor White-letter Hairstreak.
Accessibility & risks: mostly firm paths and easy walking. Wheelchair users can request gate combination numbers to ease access into the Woods. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. Powered wheelchairs can access the main woodland track. Please email [email protected] to arrange this.
Booking Required: This is a ‘permit only’ site, but access has been arranged for those attending the Guided Walk.
Please check here the evening before the walk to make sure it is going ahead as planned. This page will be updated regularly.
Meet at the main car park, take the turning after the White Hart pub, then the private drive, shortly after, on the right.
