About this Event
Rosie Hewlett joins us to launch her fantastic new mythical retelling, Sweetbitter Song, in conversation with Kirsty Logan.
In Sweetbitter Song, Rosie turns her attention to the most iconic faithful wife in Classical mythology, Penelope, telling her story anew, through the eyes of her enslaved companion Melantho. With a slow-burning love story that builds from their childhoods in Sparta through Penelope's marriage to Odysseus and life on Ithaca, Rosie conjures a vision of the Classical world that is both richly beautiful and harsh.
Rosie will be talking to Kirsty Logan, author of Portable Shelter and No and Other Love Stories, about the enduring draw of Classical myths, the importance of love, and unearthing queer histories and mythologies through fiction, before signing copies of her books.
