Country music artist and Country Music Hall of Fame member John Anderson will perform live at the Ryman Auditorium on Jan. 28 for An Acoustic Evening with John Anderson. Proceeds from the event will benefit Vanderbilt Health’s Music Therapy and Hearing programs.
From bedside jam sessions to groundbreaking music therapy research, the Music Therapy Program at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center provides cancer patients of all ages with a holistic outlet for expression, comfort, and care.
Vanderbilt Health offers coordinated care for patients with complex hearing conditions and other ear disorders. Specialty programs are available in adult and pediatric ENT, otolaryngology, hearing and speech sciences, audiology, hearing implants, music cognition, voice care and much more, which all work side by side to meet all patients' needs.
“We are so grateful to John Anderson for his support of Vanderbilt Health through this concert at the Ryman Auditorium,” said David S. Haynes, MD, professor of Otolaryngology and Hearing and Speech Sciences. “This generous donation of time and musical talent will benefit all patients who turn to us for hearing care, and will strengthen our music therapy program to serve even more patients.”
For Anderson, the cause is personal, as he has worked with doctors at Vanderbilt Health after experiencing illness that led to severe hearing loss. Now recovered, he has found music to be a part of his healing journey and says his album Years served as a healing process to help him regain his ability to make music.
