About this Event
Join Plymouth Tree People (PTP) for another of our fascintaing 2024 evening talks!
On November 25th Dr Cecilia Chavana-Bryant will present her current research on characterising and comparing tree architecture across the UK's ancient oaks and creating an open-source, 3D digital archive of these living legends.
Cecilia is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Forest Biomass, Ecophysiology & Remote Sensing at the UCL geography department funded by the NERC National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO). She is a scientist trained as a forest ecologist at the University of Oxford (DPhil) and Plymouth University (BSc Hons, MSc) and has over 15 years of field experience: working and climbing trees in tropical and temperate forest canopies, managing international teams, leading and collaborating in scientific publications and training students. Cecilia combines years of experience and expertise in forest ecology, vegetation physiochemical and spectral analysis and terrestrial (TLS) and drone lidar scanning (UAV-LS) techniques to provide a unique multidisciplinary approach to her research. Her expertise in forest structure and function has been built by long-term in-situ studies conducted in forests across the globe.
Our evenings are held at Cafe Momus on Manor Street and start at 6.30pm for 7pm. The bar will be open throughout and we hope you can join us at this relaxed venue for a drink or some food after the talk.
Entry is free but donations to PTP are always welcome!
