About this Event
“The Floating Kingdom” is a 50-60 minute live storytelling performance of an original fable featuring original music and song, written and produced by artistic duo Mica Sun and Samara Jade, based in the mountains of Western North Carolina. It has been performed over 20 times so far at venues across the United States and is appropriate and engaging for all ages. In the show, Mica performs live oral storytelling accompanied by costumery, puppetry, props, and audience involvement. Samara accompanies musically with instrumental background guitar, and the two perform original songs at points throughout the story that both en-trance and engage the audience. The duo plays and performs fluidly together, passing the spotlight back-and-forth in this mythobardic production of an original fable relevant for our times. In addition to the core performance, the duo optionally bookend the story with performances of original standalone songs — adding around 30 to 40 minutes to the show length. Alternatively, the show can headline for selected local or touring opening artists, or open for select headlining acts.
