About this Event
The Estes Valley is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. While more than 4 million people cross our threshold each year to visit the area, our community is home to nearly 12,000 residents, about 40% of whom are 60 years of age or older.
Living in a mountain community nearly an hour from the nearest city poses many challenges, particularly for older residents, including convenient access to health care, social services, public transportation, and in-home assistance.
This symposium is designed to provide an opportunity to identify the challenges and opportunities of aging well in a mountain community.
Speakers and presenters include:
Kate Watkins, Colorado State Demographer
Suzanna Simpson, Management Analyst at Town of Estes
The Estes Park Police Department and the Estes Valley Fire Protection Department
Carl Robicheaux and Trevor McGuire, attorneys with Elkhorn Law Offices, LLC.
Estes Park Quota Club
Estes Park Senior Citizens Center
Estes Dementia Day Center
The symposium will conclude with a facilitated "next steps- where do we go from here" process led by Jana Sanchez
There will be information tables from various community providers and organizations.
