Discover the freedom of action painting in this energetic and experimental workshop at the studio of Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts in Amsterdam.
Action painting is all about letting go of expectations, exploring movement, and playing with color. Instead of following strict rules or techniques, you are encouraged to experiment freely and discover what happens when paint, tools, and motion come together on canvas.
During this 1.5-hour workshop you will first experiment on a large sheet of paper. You’ll explore different techniques and discover what effects you enjoy most. Try spraying, throwing, swiping, layering paint, turning the canvas, drawing, or working with palette knives, rollers, brushes, and acrylic paint markers.
Once you feel comfortable with the techniques, you’ll start working on your own canvas. Our instructor will guide you throughout the process while giving you the freedom to experiment and develop your own style.
Each participant creates a personal artwork full of movement and energy. If you like, you can also contribute to a collective painting with the group, creating a shared artwork together.
No previous painting experience is required. The workshop is beginner-friendly and designed for anyone who wants to explore creativity in a playful and expressive way.
You will create a unique action painting on canvas, made entirely by you.
Your artwork needs time to dry. Usually this takes up to 48 hours. After that you can arrange a moment to pick up your painting at the studio.
