About this Event
The discussion will focus specifically on powder specifications and printed/post-processed material specifications for laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), with an emphasis on consistency and qualification across applications. We’ll be looking at common technical needs, current gaps, and opportunities for harmonization, while recognizing where sector-specific requirements may still be necessary. The overall goal is to help strengthen qualification pathways, reduce redundancy, and build greater confidence in AM materials for critical applications.
This workshop has been developed in close collaboration with the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) and the Joint Additive Manufacturing Working Group (JAMWG) Standards & Guidance Subcommittee (SGS). Their foundational work has established two primary focus areas:
- Powder specification requirements and associated test/verification methodologies
- Finished material (printed/post-processed) specification requirements and qualification pathways
