ENGLISH
According to an expert panel, Germany will not meet its 2030 climate targets. The government's Council of Experts on Climate Change announced that the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 65 percent by 2030 will be missed. The exhibition is curated by the artist Danielle de Picciotto. Her motivation: “In the 80s, it was about radically questioning art and music styles; in the 90s, it was about radical new technologies/the digital age. Today, there is nothing more radical than confronting climate change and rethinking everything we take for granted. In this exhibition, artists present works that address the environment, the changing climate, natural disasters, species extinction, and the pollution of oceans and rivers. Are they searching for solutions, or do they feel helpless? Is there a poetic approach, or is this reality too overwhelming? Does art have a responsibility to address climate change? Does the underground scene engage with this theme artistically?Art can offer visions, approaches, and creative new paths to inspire others. Imagination can move worlds. This exhibition aims to initiate a positive approach in this direction. The participating artists come from very different countries. It was important for me to present an international vision to demonstrate how this issue is being addressed. globally We can no longer maintain a local, narrow perspective; it's about the whole picture, the holistic view. We must learn to work together.

Climate change and its consequences for humanity and nature were already the subject of Sonae's work "Summer" (2021), an album for the French concept label la a p s and a. A floor-to-ceiling multimedia installation in collaboration with video artist Jennifer Trees, it was created as part of a NICA artist residency for the Stadtgarten Köln. With her AV performance "Summer. Second Round." for the opening, Sonae revisits and develops the theme – precisely as those in charge seem to need it, until action is finally taken.
