About this Event
ALTERED BOOKS: f l u i d p r a c t i c e // s o l i d c o n t a i n e r
Altered bookmaking is a flexible, nontraditional art practice that uses an existing book or text as a surface and container for creative exploration. It invites a wide range of participants—artists and non-artists alike, including writers, dreamers, poets, and those who enjoy working through images, words, patterns, or structure. Because there are no strict rules or required techniques, altered bookmaking is approachable and open-ended, while still allowing for gentle guidance and supportive structure, especially in therapeutic settings. This form of artmaking can be used in both short-term and ongoing art therapy work, and often becomes a meaningful, ritual-like process within individual or group spaces, including self-reflective practice for students and emerging art therapists.
