Far Out West Community Garden, Devon Bella, Hawai‘i Contemporary, and KADIST present Aloha Nō — Hawai‘i Triennial 2025 (HT25) Film Night in San Francisco, a special evening of cinema, performance, and conversation celebrating artists and filmmakers from across the Pacific.

At the center of the screening is Tiare Ribeaux’s Ho‘ōla ka Wai iā Maui—he Moemoeā (Water Restores Life to Maui—a Dream) (2025), a luminous, magical-realist moving image meditation on Maui’s water, land, and Kanaka ʻŌiwi resilience. This centerpiece is surrounded by short films from Edith Amituanai, Sancia Miala Shiba Nash & Noah Keone Viernes, Jane Jin Kaisen, and Salote Tawale.

The evening begins promptly at 6:00 PM with a garden welcome, hula by Lehua Sparrow and dance company Na Lei Hulu I Ka Weiku, and an introduction to HT25 by Hawai‘i Contemporary Executive Director Rosina Potter and Associate Director Josh Tengan. As the sun sets, audiences are invited into an open-air screening followed by a conversation. This is a unique opportunity to experience HT25's visionary body of work, inviting audiences to un/learn and embrace the transformative practice of Aloha Nō as an act of care, truth-telling, and connectivity.

In conjunction with the film night in SF, Devon Bella presents a companion exhibition featuring HT25 artists including Sione Faletau and Nanea Lum at 3923 Judah. Visible from the street, the installation extends stories of rebirth and resistance into the Outer Sunset neighborhood, offering passersby and local residents an invitation to connect with the Triennial themes long after the screening ends.

The Hawai‘i Triennial is the state’s largest thematic exhibition of contemporary art in the region, spanning multiple sites and months across Hawai‘i. Aloha Nō — Hawai‘i Triennial 2025 is curated by Wassan Al-Khudhairi, Binna Choi, and Noelle M.K.Y. Kahanu.

This film night is dedicated to the memory of Honolulu Biennial 2019 Artist Bernice Akamine (1949–2024) who shared her wisdom and artistry with generosity. Bernice’s practice continues to guide us in remembering, resisting, and caring for the land and for each other.
