About this Event
Space is essential to an artist's practice. It allows room for ideas, for experimentation, for play and, where needed, for destruction.
Studio space is increasingly a luxury many can't afford, especially artists from a working class background.
Join us for a nuanced conversation on why creativity needs space, and explore the Acrylicize x Working Class Creatives Database: Residents Exhibition, a tangible example of how space - or the lack thereof - shapes artistic expression.
Doors open 6pm - Panel Talk begins at 7pm.
Panel guests and moderator to be announced.

In 2024, we partnered with Working Class Creatives Database on a collaborative artist residency programme, which saw eight individuals spend 6-8 weeks each at The Art House, our home in East London.
They were embedded in the Acrylicize team, inspiring talks, exhibitions, poetry slams, film nights, and conversations, transforming Acrylicize studio culture. They started debates, conversations and friendships, with their contributions shaping how we move forward as a creative studio.
This residency acts as a blueprint for change. Any space—regardless of size or purpose—can be a creative space. This is a call to action for venues and organisations to open their doors to the creative community.
Artists need space, and you can help.
