Come head into the woods (and then the kitchen) with me for a deep dive on this incredibly nutritious wild food.
Have you been curious to learn more about the amazing stinging nettles that grow all over the pacific northwest? I'm offering a class all about nettles! We will head out into the woods to visit with nettle, talk about how fabulous they are and how to work with them, and give them some loving attention.
We will gather some nettles and then head back to a kitchen space to make some goodies with the nettles we harvest to taste! I will cover how to preserve your nettle harvest, how to cook with it or make into medicine. This is a great way to start building a deeper relationship with this incredibly nutritious wild food and medicine we have access to and learn about the numerous ways you can use nettle. I LOVE to cook with nettles as often as I can in the spring and will supply you with plenty of recipes to take home and try out.
After gathering our nettles, we will get to cook with nettles together and taste some delicious foods and snacks made with this amazing wild food. You will go home with your basket of nettles, a detailed handout and lots of recipes, and hopefully feeling a deeper connection to this amazing plant. I hope you can join me!
*Class will be held on a friend's property about 15min NE of Bellingham where we will gather our nettles. We will then travel a few minutes down the road to the Heartsong Center on Sand Rd where we will get to play in the kitchen with our nettles. Directions and details will be sent to you after you register.

About the teacher:
Class will be taught by herbalist, Anna Derrer, of Nettles and Petals. Anna grew up in the Pacific Northwest, free ranging in the woods and playing in the waters of the Salish Sea. She studied at the Evergreen State College and the California School of Herbal Studies and apprenticed at the Herbal Apothecary in Sebastopol, CA for four years. She has been growing and foraging herbs and making medicine for 15+ years. She loves to share the magic of plants through her herbal business, Nettles and Petals.
