About this Event
The Alice Despard Group has changed members throughout the years, but this version may be the largest and most remarkable combo yet. "The songs of singer-guitarist Alice Despard are like New York City rock n' roll played on an old Harmony acoustic guitar -- like Patti Smith interpreting the work of Neil Young. Despard fuses her intuitive, poetic observations with a warm mysticism, producing sparse, intellectually muscular songs that resemble nothing so much as four-minute pop hymns." Alice's unique ethereal mix of rock and ultra melodic pop will be backed up a seven-piece band including veteran bandmates and members of the Washington Metropolitian Gamer Symphony Orchestra.
Alice Despard guitar/vocals; Kate Rears bass/vocals; Alex Son cello; Davis White drums; Marshall Keith keyboards; Elias Calderon viola/violin; Les Doerfler vocals/ guitar/possibly lap steel!
Marshall Keith, a founding member of DC's much beloved Slickee Boys, will open our show with his original take on music including original songs and unique twists on covers. Marshall will also be joining the battalion of the Alice Despard Group, working overtime on keys.
