SYNOPSIS:
A young girl, Alice Spencer, and others take refuge in a London Tube station during World War II. With her, Alice’s best friend Alfred Hallam is suffering from tuberculosis. To help him feel well again Alice attempts to read him their favorite childhood book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, after her book is ripped from its cover from the angry Red Cross Nurse. Alice announces how she doesn’t need the book to tell the story, and then goes on to recite the story by HEART! As she tells the story, other members in the tube station begin to transform into these Wonderland characters.
This musical tackles heartbreaking themes of grief, loss, and love. Other minor themes include identity, imagination, and the realization of growing up and maturing.
