About this Event

Don't Miss "A Young 21st-Century Virtuoso": Alexandra Whittingham Comes to NYC!

Hey NYC guitar enthusiasts and visitors! Get ready for a phenomenal night of music! Alexandra Whittingham, hailed by The Guardian as "a young 21st-century virtuoso," is coming to town. This incredible guitarist is truly reshaping classical music and breaking all the rules – you won't want to miss her!

From Online Sensation to Decca Classics Star

Alexandra's journey is unique and inspiring. She started filming her performances as a personal project when she was just 16, and quickly built a massive worldwide fanbase with over 50 million views online! Now, she's exclusively signed with Decca Classics, a major record label. Her debut album, My European Journey (released in 2021), was called "a superb debut" by BBC Music Magazine. It’s a beautiful showcase of her passion for romantic guitar music, where she brings lesser-known composers into the spotlight. Her talent even led to her being chosen as one of Classic FM's "Rising Star" artists in 2022.

A Global Performer and Educator

Alexandra is constantly touring and captivating audiences worldwide. She’s performed at major events like the Cayman Islands Arts Festival and Texas’s South by Southwest. She's got a packed schedule of upcoming recitals in Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, and London, plus a tour across Ireland with trumpeter Matilda Lloyd. And excitingly for us, she’s embarking on a 30-date North American tour in early 2025 – so keep an eye out for her NYC date!

Beyond the stage, Alexandra is incredibly passionate about music education. She gives masterclasses at music colleges and regularly holds workshops in schools, aiming to inspire more young people from diverse backgrounds to fall in love with classical music. She even teaches at her former school, Chetham's School of Music, and is a proud graduate of the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London.

Alexandra plays beautiful guitars made by Philip Woodfield and Christopher Dean, and she’s a proud Augustine Strings artist. Come experience the extraordinary talent of Alexandra Whittingham – it’s a concert you’ll be talking about for a long time! What's your favorite classical guitar piece?
