About this Event
The Employment Rights Act 2025 was described as “good for workers, good for businesses and good for the economy”. As it made its way through Parliament last year, we were promised “the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation”.
With the final flourish of a wholly unexpected additional liability on employers, the new law created many new opportunities. Opportunities for more workers to bring more claims, opportunities for trade unions to have more sway and many more opportunities for employers to trip as they make their tentative way through a feast of new employment protection rights.
Some of these new rights have just come into force and others will come into force over the next year or so. From recruitment practice to ensuring fair dismissals, no aspect of the employment lifecycle will remain untouched.
The Alexander Lloyd HR Team are pleased to welcome back Andrew Knorpel, Consultant Solicitor with Richard Nelson LLP to provide us with a review of the new legislation, including the right to claim unfair dismissal after just six months, the right to work flexibly unless an employer’s refusal is reasonable, the right to statutory sick pay from day one, and enhanced employer liability for harassment. As usual, Andrew will focus on the steps which employers should be taking to minimise the risk of potential claims and other practical action points.
If there’s time after all that, Andrew will also provide a short update on AI in the workplace.
Join us at The Sandman Hotel in Crawley: registration, refreshments, pastries and networking from 8:30am for a 9am start.
We look forward to seeing you there!
