About this Event
Don't Let the Sun Beat You Home
A 45 minute solo show
Synopsis: A one-woman theatrical choreopoem show which chronicles the personification of five of the most famous killers of black women: chronic illness, childbirth, stress, police violence, and suicide. There is a common nomenclature in African American households for young children playing outside that they should be in the house before the streetlights come on. Consequently, it says in scripture in Psalms 30:5 that weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning. The juxtaposition of those two popular ideals leads to this show. In essence, if you can just make it through the night, your reward will be plentiful on the other side of your morning/mourning
