Join us on Saturday at 9 p.m. to celebrate the unveiling of this remarkable mural and watch Frank attach a final eyeball on the piece!Inspired by Joan Miró’s work at the Gourmet Room in the historic Terrace Plaza Hotel, the mural transforms what was once a blank, all-black wall in a space where legendary performers like Leftöver Crack and Kool Keith have graced the stage.
Unlike Miró’s original canvas work, Frank’s creation uses plexiglass, plywood, plaster, acrylic, and spray paint to craft a three-dimensional piece with multiple layers. The mural’s shapes are inspired by nautical items and donated fish taxidermy found throughout the bar. While it pays homage to its historical muse, the mural stands on its own as an innovative work of art.
Beneath the mural lies a full-wall “cabinet of curiosities” divided into four sections. Hidden within its intricate shelves, Frank has embedded the letters “NSYC,” inviting guests to discover subtle details woven into the display.
