A round trip Alaskan cruise on the beautiful Koningsdam out of Vancouver, Canada. This amazing sailing is one I just got off and just had to create a group for this same sailing next year! What an amazing experience. On this page I will go through what to expect day by day and let you know all the fun you will have sailing to Alaska! Below is the itinerary
May 10, Board the Koningsdam in Vancouver to begin your Alaskan Adventure
May 11, Day at Sea Bound for The Great Land - you keep your eyes out, you may have a whale sighting or two today!
May 12, Juneau Alaska the capital of Alaska - see Mendanhaul Glacier, take a whale watch trip (do both in a combo excursion) have an Alaska Beer at the Red Tavern, hike, take a tram for a scenic view! There is so much to do here, I even took a helicopter up to the glacier and was able to ride with a dog sled team!
May 13, Skagway, Alaska - The Gateway to the Klondike, here you can take a train into Canada for amazing views, meet sled dogs, hike along the coast, as well as whale watch and explore this beautiful town. I know you will see at least on bald eagle today!
May 14 Welcome to Glacier Bay: Today is a "day at sea" but it is so much more than that to me!! Only two ships are allowed into Glacier Bay per day to keep it as unspoiled and lovely! The scenery today will be unmatched and a park ranger will board the boat in the morning and sail all day with you all day pointing out wildlife and sharing stories of this amazing area. The highlight will be the two glaciers that the ship will stay in front of and do a 360 for an hour so you can take in the scenery of these amazing glaciers. Don't forget to have a cup of the famous Holland America pea soup today!
May 15, Ketchikan, Alaska - known as the salmon capital of the world, but in May the salmon will not be running although there are places you can still sea salmon. Here you can do so much, I have taken amazing hikes, eaten wonderful chowders, taken a bike ride, gone kayaking, taken a ride on a crab boat seen in the Deadlist Catch and so much more - or you can do what the locals do and go on a pub tour (we made our own last time after crab fishing and it was so much fun and we got to meet the locals, which I loved!)
May 16, Cruising the Inside Passage, today will once again be filled with amazing scenery for some last minute wildlife spotting. We saw dolphins on this last trip and orcas on my other cruises
May 17, Disembark back where you started in Vancouver
