About this Event
Join us for a hands-on, fun, and collaborative volunteer day in support of one of our Environmental Justice Project grantees, .
APC is the largest supportive housing community in Alameda County and is revitalizing a long-neglected community garden to better serve previously unhoused residents and the broader community. This effort will expand access to green space, support food sovereignty, and promote wellness through new programming and infrastructure improvements.
What We’ll Do
Volunteers will help with a variety of garden revitalization activities, including:
- Clearing weeds and removing debris to make space for new growth
- Cleaning up areas where trash has been dumped
- Redefining garden plot borders and preparing soil for future planting
- Assembling and installing a new storage shed
- Assembling and installing a new information kiosk
Why It Matters
This event marks the second volunteer collaboration between USGBC-CA and APC to create a sustainable, community-led garden that supports environmental education, food access, and meaningful connection to nature.
