InTW Studio
Hsieh Hsiao-Ting and Hsieh Hsiao-Wei are the co-founders and artistic directors of InTW Studio. Both artists have long been dedicated to contemporary dance, dance film, and immersive interdisciplinary creation. Their work explores the relationships among the body, space, technological media, and live perception, while developing performance forms that integrate environmental theatre, site-specific creation, and XR technologies.
In addition to their creative practice, both of them have also been deeply involved in arts education and outreach for many years. Through school arts programs, they transform immersive experiences and object theatre methodologies into accessible artistic activities, expanding opportunities for participation in contemporary performing arts across different age groups and communities.
Ty Chen
"I knock on the door of the void, leaving it to the audience to answer."
Ty Chen’s artistic practice is a profound exploration of attention and the interstices of consciousness. He views performance as a professional responsibility—capturing the gaze with precision within the darkness and constructing a bridge to trance-like states between the realms of revelry and silence. To him, flame and body are more than mere media; they are the rhythmic pulse that knocks on the door of the void.
Rather than controlling the viewer's thoughts, he offers a "suggested frequency," guiding the temporary dissolution of boundaries between the self and the external world. In that wordless peace, where reality and illusion constantly shift, one finds the possibility of seeing light the moment they are freed from the shackles of thought. He speaks not of achievement or legacy, for art exists only in the resonance of the present. When the performance ends and silence returns to the self, he remains like a flower rising from the wild—unique, unpretentious, blooming and fading within the clarity of the moment.
Exhibition Description
Aka Chang (Taiwan, 1979), a world-touring light artist, will present his first international solo exhibition in Berlin.
‘Like dew and like lightning’, a new installation and the centrepiece of the exhibition, is inspired by the Buddhist thought of the ‘Diamond Sutra’. It renders a state of emptiness and non-attachment that evokes a sense of physis and physics, revealing the essence of beauty.
The exhibition features three large-scale, site-specific laser light installations that integrate photosensitive materials, a water screen, and kinetic motors, translating artist’s unique narrative and Eastern philosophical perspective into the context of the modern technological era, and inviting the audience to rethink the ‘Being’, the essence of immersive experience in our time.
