About this Event
Rizzoli Bookstore is delighted to partner with AIGA NY for the launch of the Coffee House Series — a quarterly gathering for design educators, students, creative thinkers, and the design-curious. Each session brings our community together at a local bookstore or café to hear from authors and practitioners whose work sits at the intersection of creativity, culture, and design.
Join us for a conversation with Dora Drimalas and Caleb Kozlowski of Hybrid Design — a San Francisco-based multidisciplinary graphic design studio known for creating wonderfully engaging work across branding, identity, illustration, campaigns, packaging, retail, digital, and more. Their client roster includes Nike, Sonos, The North Face, Google, Apple, Rapha, A24, SFMOMA, LEGO, and Levi’s.
Dora and Caleb will celebrate their book Curiosity in All Things, speaking to its core theme and reflecting on how curiosity has shaped their creative practice, their studio, and their careers. The conversation will be followed by a signing. There will be time to mingle with fellow design enthusiasts and partake in a book club corner if you’ve already read Curiosity in All Things.
PLEASE NOTE: RSVPs are encouraged but not required. Seating is limited and will be first come, first served. Doors open at 5:30 pm.
Can't attend? (please specify that you would like it signed in the comments box at checkout).
In Hybrid: Curiosity in All Things, veteran multidisciplinary design studio, Hybrid Design, explores the discipline of putting curiosity into practice.
Through real projects over the last 20+ years in business and insightful essays, they chart how a broad and eclectic collection of interests, hobbies, and experiences—curiosities—translates into powerful design work across any subject or discipline. Hybrid will showcase work from clients such as Nike, Pinterest, The North Face, Lego, Sonos, Hypebeast, Levis, YouTube, and many more.
Dora Drimalas is the co-founder and Executive Creative Director of Hybrid Design, where she leads work rooted in curiosity, craft, and thoughtful systems. She is also a co-founder of Super7, a pop-culture toy company driven by a love of storytelling and making the kinds of objects she wished existed. Dora spent years at Nike in Brand Design, contributing to projects including the launch of Nike’s first New York flagship store, early Sportswear campaigns, and global moments such as the Olympics and World Cup. Through Hybrid, she has partnered with brands including Nike, Sonos, The North Face, Rapha, Google, Apple, Mohawk, and LEGO. Her work sits at the intersection of design, content, and culture, guided by the belief that curiosity and play are essential tools for solving real business problems.
Caleb Kozlowski is Creative Director at Hybrid Design, a San Francisco-based multidisciplinary creative agency where he helps brands discover and express their most authentic selves. Over two decades, he has guided organizations—from Nike and Levi's to A24 and SFMOMA—in translating their core values into compelling brand experiences across environments, digital platforms, and communications. His approach combines deep curiosity across culture, design, and technology to create distinctive points of view that resonate with audiences large and small. Whether developing brand activations, leading long-term creative partnerships like his work with Mohawk Paper and Nike, or speaking at institutions from Art Center College of Design to the Judd Foundation, Caleb draws on diverse interests—from mid-century architecture to local run clubs—to bring unexpected perspective to every challenge.
