Currently in his final semester at The University of Texas at Austin, Aidan Berg is following in the footsteps of the iconic jazz bassist’s before him through his development and studies under the direction of John Fremgen and Diego Rivera.
Outside of the classroom, Aidan has cemented himself as an in-demand freelancer performing alongside national and local legends including Diego Rivera, Mike Sailors, Daniel Dufour, Ross Margitza, Andre Hayward, Quincy Davis, Xavier Davis, and Aubrey Logan. As a bandleader, he frequently performs in a trio configuration throughout the central Texas area.
During the summer of 2024, Aidan attended the Jazz Aspen Snowmass program, in which he performed in the first-ever Afro-Caribbean Big Band under Etienne Charles. As a Rainwater Innovation Grant recipient, Aidan brought renowned trumpeter Etienne Charles to UT Austin for a guest residency in October 2025. Furthermore, Aidan is also a 2025 recipient of the Eleanor Alexander Stribling award for Excellence in Jazz Studies. On and off the bandstand, Aidan seeks to uplift and honor the rich tradition of jazz.
