AI Skills for Women & Girls: International Women's Day Event

This International Women's Day, we're bringing AI learning to life — in person, in the North East, and designed entirely with women and girls in mind.

Constantine Lecture Theatre (CG.26), Teesside University

Join us for an inspiring afternoon hosted by Joanna Wake UK Ambassador for She AI. We're going to deliver SheAI's Personal Productivity in the Age of AI course face-to-face, in partnership with Teesside University. Whether you're completely new to AI or just starting to explore what it can do for you, this event is your invitation to take your first confident step.

Why does this matter?

Women use AI at significantly lower rates than men, but that gap is closing, and events like this one are part of how we close it. AI is reshaping every industry, every role, and every career path. Women and girls who develop AI skills now aren't just keeping up, they're stepping ahead. This isn't about becoming a tech expert. It's about making your working life smarter, faster, and more creative.

What you'll experience on the day:

The session draws directly from SheAI's UN-certified Personal Productivity course, giving you practical, hands-on insights you can apply straight away. You'll leave with a clear understanding of how to treat AI as a teammate rather than a shortcut, and a real sense of what's possible. Highlights include:

  • How to build your own personal AI workflow that drafts emails, organises research, and prepares presentations
  • An introduction to custom AI agents, no coding required
  • How to use AI for smarter research with tools like Perplexity Labs
  • Tips for creating polished presentations faster using tools like Gamma and Napkin AI
  • A framework for staying safe, ethical, and confident when using AI at work

Attendees can expect to walk away with practical strategies that could save 2 to 4 hours per week, plus the foundations of their own Personal AI Playbook.

Meet our panel:

One of the highlights of the afternoon will be hearing from a group of women at genuinely different stages of their AI journey. Our panel brings together voices from across the region and from within Teesside University itself, spanning different ages, career stages, and industries. Some are just finding their feet with AI, others are already weaving it into their daily work in ways they never expected. What they have in common is a willingness to be honest about what it's really like to start learning something new, and why they're glad they did.

This event is free and open to women and girls across the Tees Valley and wider North East region.

No technical knowledge needed. Just bring your curiosity.

This event is delivered in partnership with Teesside University and SheAI, a UN-certified AI education platform committed to closing the gender gap in AI.
