About this Event
Everything humans have achieved has been built on our intelligence. Today, artificial intelligence (AI) can rival and surpass human intelligence in various tasks. This technology offers immense opportunities and potential risks.
As a leading business school, INSEAD is uniquely positioned to lead discussions on the co-existence of human and machine intelligence, and AI's impact on people, businesses, and society.
Based on this vision, INSEAD is establishing a Human and Machine Intelligence Institute (HUMII). Our vision is for the Institute to:
Create knowledge: As a research think tank, HUMII will bring together scientific and humanistic fields related to human and artificial intelligence.
Build skills: We will equip all INSEAD graduates the essential skills to lead, innovate, and build in the age of intelligence.
Protect human agency: We will apply our know-how to bridge knowledge gaps, to preserve cultural and linguistic identities, to enhance life and work.
To support the vision of HUMII, we have organised the INSEAD AI Forums 2025 series around the world, with the latest session, the AI Forum Americas edition, taking place at the San Francisco Hub for Business Innovation on September 26.
Each event will bring together dignitaries, our faculty, industry experts, alumni, and students.
Alongside the main Forum we will also be hosting INSEAD AI50 on September 25. This special alumni-led initiative looks to recognise AI leaders in the INSEAD alumni community.
Please save the dates, September 25 and September 26 to be part of these important conversations around the future of AI.

Launching Botipedia
Host: Prof. Phil Parker
Info: Wikipedia, the crowd-sourced encyclopaedia with 64 million articles, is a wonderful information source for many. Introducing Botipedia, an AI-powered encyclopaedia with over 400 billion articles, drawing on a content engine consisting of hundreds of archives, databases, the open internet and satellite feeds. The scale difference reflects the power of AI relative to human labor but the ingenuity of Botipedia lies in taming this awesome power with strong controls, resulting in a knowledge engine that does not hallucinate. Culmination of over three decades of AI and data engineering, INSEAD is launching Botipedia by its creator, Prof. Phil Parker. Phil holds a pioneering patent in year 2000 on Natural Language Generation; his early work was supported by the Gates Foundation to bring information to African farmers who otherwise have little access to knowledge.

Navigating the AI Event Horizon: Strategic Responses to the Rise of AGI & ASI
Host: Prof. Jason Davis
Info: Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) represent the ultimate "event horizon" β powerful, transformative, yet shrouded in deep uncertainty. Drawing from his recent book, Event Horizon Strategy, INSEAD Professor Jason Davis will discuss practical frameworks that organisations and leaders can employ to strategically engage with the profound uncertainty surrounding AGI and ASI. This session explores flexible experimentation, strategic agility, and real-world insights from AI pioneers such as Tesla and Palantir, emphasising the importance of preparing for multiple scenarios regarding AGI / ASI timelines and different impacts from AI diffusion.

Using Psychological Science to Understand and Improve the Impact of AI
Host: Assistant Prof. Johannes Eichstaedt
Info: AI and large language models are being woven into our social and professional fabric. This shift presents an opportunity to integrate psychological wisdom into these AI systems, enabling interactions that benefit our mental health and well-being. Eichstaedt will present research on how LLMs can advocate for policy positions and contribute to happiness and meaning in life. In mental health specifically, LLMs may substantially expand access to care, assisting in therapist training and therapy delivery. Beyond LLMs helping our psychology, tools from psychology can also be used to better understand LLMs β such as their tendency to appear more likeable. Finally, Eichstaedt will discuss how we need to think harder and with greater specificity about the impacts of AI on people and organisations, and attempt to escape the simplistic narratives presented by Silicon Valley.
