About this Event
Hanif Kara OBE, Co-founder of engineers AKT II, GSD Harvard Professor, recipient of the Soane Medal, Trustee of the Zaha Hadid Foundation and senior advisor to the Aga Khan Development Network, will speak about how the focus of his work has shifted from geometry to sustainability, about design education and critical thinking.
Hanif’s current building projects include BIG’s and Heatherwick Studio’s Google HQ, Saarinen’s former American Embassy building and it’s conversion with David Chipperfield and the Aga Khan Academy Bangladesh with FCBS.
Having worked in many parts of the world Hanif has an interesting take on the mimetic architecture of much of the west, and architecture that looks after people and places, that is liveable, mixed and culturally grounded.
