Stamatia Dova is Professor of Classics and Greek Studies at Hellenic College in Brookline, Massachusetts. She received her Ph.D. in Classical Philology at Harvard University in 2001. Her research interests include archaic and classical Greek poetry, gender studies, the concept of the hero in ancient Greece, and Greek language pedagogy. She is the author of The Poetics of Failure in Ancient Greece and Greek Heroes in and out of Hades. Her current book project, entitled The Poetics of Olympism, examines the cultural poetics of ancient Greek sport and its reception by the modern Olympic movement.
