About this Event
Afro IS Indigenous serves as a continuation of a growing body of work that Toronto-based historian Jayden Ogé-Maxwell has been developing over the course of five Annual African Heritage Month Showcases.
This year’s presentation expands on the concept of Indigeneity itself, exploring Paleo-American and First Nations histories and revealing their multilayered relationships to Africanity. Drawing from scholarly works, primary sources, peer-reviewed journalism, and an intellectually engaging slideshow presentation, this showcase invites attendees to critically examine African history as it relates to world history.
Join us for an immersive and thought-provoking experience that challenges conventional narratives and encourages meaningful dialogue around ancestry, identity, and historical continuity.
