Pablo Cardenas is a Cuban Jazz pianist, composer, music educator, and arranger with influences such as Afro-Cuban, Latin jazz, jazz fusion, modern jazz, classical, and more. Since the 2000s, he has been performing in music festivals in Havana and internationally and has resided in Canada since 2011 where he worked with Dee Daniels and Denzal Sinclair and projects such as The West Coast Cuban Orchestra. He has contributed to the development of Afro-Cuban music and the jazz scene in the Vancouver Island region, as well as a recent collaboration with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. He will be performing at the Salt Spring Legion on May 30 with the Westcoast Cuban Ensemble and local saxophonist Monik Nordine.
